The New Nigeria People’s Party, Ogun State Chapter on Wednesday,  declared that it has queued behind new candidate, Olufemi Ajadi, as the party’s candidate for 2023 gubernatorial election.

The party unveiled the new candidate at a congress held in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The candidate, Ajadi, while addressing newsmen, vowed to provide infrastructural development in the state if elected, adding that “come 2023, we will ensure there is no single pothole on our roads.”

Ajadi noted that his plans for the state would be released soon.

He said, “By the grace of God we are bringing a lot of things. Very soon, we are going to release our manifesto where you will be able to know more about the things we want to do for Ogun state.

“The situation of the roads in our state is in bad shape.

“Aside from the state capital, the state of roads across the state is worrisome.”

Collaborating what the candidate said, the state chairman, Oginni Olaposi disclosed that the party will embark on infrastructural and economic development if elected in 2023.

He said, “We are not pleased with the state of things at the moment. This party is coming out with a very vibrant, young and energetic governor that will take over.

“When we emerge, our party will embarked on “operation no porthole”.

“You saw what happened in Sango Ota and other parts of the state.

“How do you want to maximise the economy prowess of the state with these bad roads, and the government in power is doing nothing about it.

“We will start from somewhere; we are going to do more than porthole.

“There is no way you can make an economy of the state to work without having good roads. What is happening in Ado-Odo Ota is not what anybody pray for. It is telling us that there is no government.”

Oginni said the party was keen on fielding a youth as their candidate, adding that Ajadi has the exposure and experience to govern the state

“What our candidate is talking about is not just about road, he is talking about overhauling of every part of the state.

“I want to tell you that he is a youth, with lot of vision and energy.

“Youth development is going to be our priority, and NNPP is concerned about education and education.

“We are going to make sure that all our children are well educated with lot of opportunities even in the field of sport.

“We are the best, and we are bringing the best for Ogun state, Olufemi Ajadi is one of the best.

“The government of Ogun State is going to witness the best ever.

“We are coming with a man God has chosen to take over and this is the man anointed by God.

Meanwhile, the chairman of NNPP noted that the substitution of the candidate was in-line with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s guidelines.

Recall that Fayoyin Ezekiel was the party’s candidate before Ajadi was identified.

“This is substitution, we can see INEC staff here. The programme of INEC is that you still have a window of substitution.

“And what we have done here is substitution. We have done it legally; all INEC officials, security agencies and the national leaders of the party including the national secretary is here present. So, we have the full backing of the Electoral law, the party constitution and what we are doing is in line with constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria”, Oginni said.

Other political stalwarts that witnessed the event were the National Secretary of the party, General Dipo Olayokun and the Southwest Secretary, Tunde Oke among others.
