Buhari Promises to Restore Oil Mining License, 46 to Bayelsa

The President, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, pledged that he will restore the Oil Mining License, (OML) 46, to Bayelsa State with “promptness and immediacy.”

“I will respond to your requests as quickly as possible,” Buhari said in an audience with Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President informed Governor Diri who visited the Presidential Villa with three requests in the company of his Predecessor, Senator Seriake Dickson, King Alfred Diete-Spiff and the Chairman of the State’s Council of Traditional Rulers, King Bubaraye Dakolo.

According to a statement signed by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the request include: the Federal Government’s take over the Bayelsa State Medical University, a speedy completion of three Federal roads in each of the Senatorial Districts; and the restoration of the Oil Mining Licence, “OML 46” to Bayelsa State, which he (Diri) said was unjustly revoked and awarded to a private company.

The statement is titled ‘President Buhari Assures Governor Diri of a good listening ear to Bayelsa State.’

He based his request of FG’s takeover of the medical university on its current move to set up medical hospitals in the Geopolitical Zones.

On OML 46, Diri said the oil well is “emotional” to Bayelsans, whom he said possessed the technical and financial capacity to manage it.

Responding to the Governor’s requests, Buhari said, “Given the period we are in, I know most of you are in the field campaigning. I will respond to your requests as quickly as possible.”

Diri also congratulated the President on the nation’s attainment of the 62nd Anniversary which coincides with Bayelsa’s 30th year of creation, and appealed to the President to continue with his balanced approach to issues of national development
