President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo, reaffirms fraternity with Nigeria

The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has refuted the accusations of harassment by Nigerian merchants in this country, and affirmed that the fraternity between the two states will continue, Gentechnews reports.

Akufo-Addo recalled that Ghana was always the home of Nigerians, many of whom lived and worked there for centuries.

The president made the remarks in a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Femi Gbajabiamila, with whom he discussed accusations that Ghanaian officials harassed Nigerian merchants in Ghana.

“It alarmed me because, if those are the feelings and attitudes of the Federal Government of Nigeria, then we are in a really serious problem. “You have to know that the Nigerian population of Ghana is safe. They are in a house of brothers. Many of them have been here for centuries trading and doing business without any difficulties, and that is the culture of cooperation and brotherhood,’ he informed Speaker Gbajabiamila.

It will be recalled that in recent months, Ghana and Nigeria have been embroiled in a diplomatic dispute following the eviction of Nigerian merchants involved in retail trade.

However, the speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives is concluding a two-day visit to the Parliament of Ghana, with whose members he discussed all aspects of relations between the two countries.
