Two Air Peace Planes on Maiden Flights to land at Ebonyi Airport, April 27

Two aircraft belonging to Air Peace will be the first aircraft to land at the new Ebonyi International Airport in the State and serve as the Airport’s maiden test flight scheduled for Thursday, April 27.

The State Government on Tuesday disclosed that all was set for the test flight to take place at the Airport located at Onueke, Ezza South Local government’s Area of the State.

Governor David Umahi announced this while speaking with Journalists after the State Executive Council Meeting on Tuesday.

Umahi also revealed that the two flights of 80-person capacity each will take off from Abuja and Lagos to land at the Airport, while the flights will also carry a delegation from the Federal Government for the opening ceremony.

“It will also carry some of our people from the two cities who are visiting the state. After the ceremony it will also take the Federal Government delegation and others travelling back”, Umahi added.

Gentechnews gathered the airport, the Iyere Bridge said to be the longest flyover bridge in the southeast and the King David Umahi University include the legacy projects of the Governor David Umahi administration to be commissioned.

According to the Site Manager of the project, Engr. Frank Ngwu, the Ebonyi International Airport has the largest terminal in the country as well as the single largest terminal building in Nigeria.

Ngwu, said “You can also see that the terminal building that we have here is the single largest terminal building in Nigeria, our apron is also the single biggest apron in Nigeria, 133 thousand square meters.

“The International wing is 60, 000 square meters, the domestic wing apron is 60,000 square meters”.

“The runway is the thickest in the country at 65cm concrete pavement meaning that the biggest cargo aircraft in the world can land on it.”
