House of Representatives Passes Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Bill

The House of Representatives has passed the Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Bill.

Akutah disclosed this on Friday during the opening of the 2024 Operational Retreat for middle management officers of the agency in Lagos.

He highlighted on the importance of the training, adding, “This training is an opportunity for capacity building in preparation for the new roles that the Council has assumed. As middle management officers, you are expected to prepare yourselves for top management roles, as you are the driving force behind policy implementation.”

Akutah stated that the Bill has been sent to the Senate for reading and is expected to be passed into law soon.

He commended the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy for his support and emphasized on the crucial role of the Nigerian Shippers Council in driving the Blue Economy sector forward.

Akutah said “The Nigerian Shippers Council is a key factor in contributing to the national GDP through economic regulation.

“Once the law is in place, we will have the capacity to effectively regulate the sector, and we count on your support as the engine room of this agency.”
