Niger State Stakeholders Laud President Tinubu’s Four Legacy Road Projects  

• Back Works Minister’s Insistence on Value for Money by Contractors

The four Renewed Hope Legacy Projects of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,have received a laud ovation and profound support of the government and people of Niger State.

This was the mood of the stakeholders of the State at the Town Hall meeting/ stakeholders’ engagement they had with the Federal Ministry of Works over the 1068 km Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway passing through Niger State.

The stakeholders lauded the four Renewed Hope legacy projects of Mr. President including the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, which has a 125-km component within the State, as a strategic roadmap to economic prosperity.

Speaking during the event held at Lebgor Kutigi Event Centre Minna on Wednesday, 13th November 2024, the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi, CON gave an overview of the socio-economic importance of the 6- lane Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway when completed.

He said that the idea of stakeholders’ engagement was an innovative governance approach of the Renewed Hope administration aimed at fostering public participation in development processes.

He assured of the President’s determination in re-writing the history of the works sector through unprecedented intervention in the road infrastructure across the 6 Geo-Political Zones of Nigeria for holistic economic recovery.

He thanked the Farmer Governor of Niger State, His Excellency, Mohammed Umar Bago, for the sense of passion, partnership, and collaboration demonstrated by his administration in tackling the road infrastructure deficits inherited from previous administrations.

In his speech, the Governor thanked the President of Nigeria for remembering Niger State in the economic development plan of his administration and assured him of the unwavering commitment of Niger State to the ideals of the Renewed Hope administration.

He commended the Honourable Minister of Works for bringing to bear a deep sense of professionalism and passion in tackling the inherited problems facing the works sector.

The stakeholders meeting was well attended by prominent stakeholders in Niger State, government functionaries, and members of the National Assembly Committees on Works, including the Deputy Whip of the 10th Senate, Sen. Barr. Onyekachi Peter Nwebonyi, the Minority Whip of the Senate, Sen. Osita Ngwu, the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Sen. Rufa’i Hanga, the Chairman, House Committee on Works, Hon. Akin Alabi, the Vice Chairman, House Committee on Works, Hon. Usman Banye.

Others are: Sen. Sani Musa, Hon Muhammed Jafaru, Hon Blessing Hon Tanko Adamu, Hon Yusuf Datti.
