Minister Of State Works, Goronyo Inspects Collapsed Culvert In Mokwa, Niger State
- Orders Immediate Re-Instatement In Line With President Tinubu’s Directives
The Honourable Minister of State for works, Hon. Goronyo Bello carried out an urgent inspection of the collapsed culvert in Mokwa, Niger State, a tragic site that has claimed numerous lives and disrupted transportation and economic activity in the region.
A statement signed by Maryam Mohammed Sanusi, Director, Information and Public Relations, noted that during the inspection, the Minister expressed deep concern over the devastating impact of the collapse on residents and commuters.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the incident.
In line with the directive of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Honourable Minister, issued an immediate order for the reinstatement of the culvert.
He emphasized that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring swift and quality reconstruction of all critical infrastructure affecting the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians.
“The lives and safety of our citizens must always come first,” the Honourable Minister stated.
“This culvert is a vital link in our national road network, and its failure is unacceptable. On the instructions of Mr. President, I have directed the immediate mobilization of materials, manpower, and equipment to this site to ensure expedited restoration,” he added.
The Honourable Minister assured the people of Mokwa and Niger State that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its mission to improve infrastructure, promote road safety, and prevent future occurrences through proactive maintenance and rapid response.
The Ministry, he said will continue to monitor the progress of work at the site to ensure timely completion, and relevant agencies have been directed to work round the clock to restore the culvert to functionality.
