Huawei plans 6G equipment and networks rollout in 2030

As Nigerians and the Senate are still in contention as to whether fifth generation technology (5G) is healthy for humans or not, Huawei is already targeting 6G launch.

Huawei is seriously thinking about the future with plans for a 6G rollout, as CGTN reports indicate.

Huawei Chairman Xu Zhijun used the company’s global analyst conference in Shenzhen to announce that it intends to launch 6G equipment and subsequent networks in 2030.

A white paper is also planned in which Huawei will tell the industry what 6G is.

If Zhijun is to be believed, Huawei’s take on 6G will be 50 times faster than 5G when it arrives in less than nine years.

Of course, it won’t arrive in the US if the current trade ban continues or escalates, but then Huawei won’t be the only company working on 6G technology over the next decade.

For now, 6G is something for scientists and engineers to worry about, but if they get this right, we could be living in a truly connected world by the mid-2030s.

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Senate recently embarked on investigative public hearing on the deployment of 5G in Nigeria.

During the session by the Senate Joint Committee on Communications; Science and Technology; Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Cyber Crimes; and Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases, at the National Assembly Chamber in Abuja on Thursday, February 25, 2021, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, reiterated there is no known scientific evidence till date suggesting that 5G poses any risks to public health and safety.

Speaking at the public hearing, Pantami affirmed the findings from independent scientific reports published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), both agencies of the United Nations (UN), which clearly indicate that there is no health risks to human lives associated with the deployment of 5G.

The Minister said after the initial approval by the President which led to the commencement, in 2019 of 5G trial in selected locations in the country and subsequent intervention of the National Assembly in 2020, seeking clarifications on probable health risks of 5G deployment, the Ministry had so far undertaken wide-ranging stakeholder consultations to ascertain the safety of 5G networks.
