Access Bank renovates primary school in Ebute-Metta, Lagos

Access Bank Plc has said it has renovated St. Peter’s Primary School, Ebute-Metta as part of its commitment to support quality education and community development in Lagos State.

The Group Chief Conduct and Compliance, Access Bank, Pattison Boleigha, during an event on the project in Lagos, said the bank was sensitive to community needs.

“The bank has an employee volunteering scheme which involves carrying out corporate social responsibility activities to promote public interests through social investment in community development,” Boleigha said.

Boleigha, who was represented at the event by Uzoma Ujah highlighted that the conduct and compliance group had been actively participating in the programme since inception as a way of giving back to the society.

He affirmed that the group’s CSR activities for 2020 focused on improving the quality of education in Lagos state, adding that this made it to embark on the initiative to address some of the social welfare issues by renovating St Peter’s Nursery/Primary School.

He declared that the renovation work involved fixing of the aluminium roof and the ceiling, installation of 44 units of doors and 95 iron windows, and replacement of the chalk board with the modern marker boards.

Other parts of the renovation work includes plumbing work, provision of water tank and the toilet facilities for 12 restrooms, provision of the guiderails at the first and the second floor balconies of the two wings of the building, and painting.

The objectives of the project, according to him, was to restore the hope of access to quality education in a conducive learning environment to the pupils who found it difficult learning because of the bad condition.
