Airlines in Nigeria to Shut down Operations Thursday as Aviation Fuel Scarcity Hits Sector

Airlines in the country have raise alarm over aviation Fuel Scarcity that is affecting their operations and plans to shut down operations effective Thursday.

Speaking on this development at a current meeting of oil marketers, Airline operators, NNPC CEO, Mele Kyari and other stakeholders at the National Assembly, the Chairman Airpeace, Allen Onyema, demanded for Jet A1 Import License, adding that all airlines would run out of fuel in three days.

Onyema also warned that Airlines in the country would shut down operations over the non-availability of Aviation fuel to run their operations.

Chairman Airpeace said “We have only three more days, all airlines in Nigeria will shut down. We are not threatening this country, it is a fact.

“I have the mandate of all airlines to demand that Airlines begin importation of fuel, if we can buy planes of millions of dollars, we can also import fuel ourselves. Let NNPC give Airlines licenses, we want to import ourselves.”
