ARCON seeks govt’s partnership for members on urbanisation

The President, Architects’ Registration Council of Nigeria, Oladipupo Ajayi, has called on licensed Nigerian architects to explore urbanism.

Ajayi gave the charge in a statement titled “ARCON tasks licensed architects on urbanism, seeks government’s patronage”, during the virtual induction of newly registered architects and architectural firms.

He lamented that Nigerian cities cried for regeneration and urged governments at all levels to partner with them towards regenerating most of the nation’s deteriorating cities.

The ARCON president noted that the Nigerian architect had been trained to handle such situation and urged the inductees to work towards urbanism.

He attributed urban regeneration as aiding existing cities to be remodeled to pave way for the creation of more roads, motorways, transport systems, creating new residential areas, industrial sites as well as commercial areas.

He tasked the government to partner with the council for urban regeneration to be achieved in Nigeria, adding that urban regeneration would bring about a lasting improvement in the economic, physical, social and environmental condition of an area.

He enthused that ARCON had well-endowed architects and called for government partnership for the realisation of smart homes in the country.

The Registrar of ARCON, Umar Murnai, charged registered architects to promote the use of ARCON Project Registration Number.
