Aviation Permanent Secretary, Kana Commends NAMA’s Commitment to Safety and Efficiency

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, has commended the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for its critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of air navigation in Nigeria.

Dr Kana made the commendation during a working tour of NAMA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, and described the agency as “very strategic and pivotal” to the nation’s economic development.

The Permanent Secretary also commended the staff of NAMA for their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to achieving organizational objectives, stressing that teamwork is the foundation of success and will continue to propel NAMA to greater heights.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by the fluctuating dollar exchange rate and restated the government’s commitment to addressing funding challenges in the sector.

He promised to collaborate with the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to secure necessary funding for NAMA’s projects.

NAMA’s Managing Director, Engr. Ahmed Farouk, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Kana’s visit and emphasized the agency’s commitment to safety.

Farouk highlighted that funding for critical navigational infrastructure remains a challenge, with some projects currently 50 percent completed.

NAMA’s Managing Director, however, expressed his confidence in the collaborative efforts of Dr. Kana and Minister Keyamo to ensure the successful completion of these projects.

In related development, NAMA  revealed the plans to commence work on its corporate headquarters at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, with the groundbreaking ceremony to be performed by Minister.
