Buhari displays first made in Nigeria cell phone, ‘ITF Mobile’
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, June 9, received the first made in Nigeria cell phone, called ITF Mobile.
The phone was reportedly one of 12 indigenous mobile cell phones produced by the Model Skills Training Centre of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
The minister of industry, trade and investment, Adeniyi Adebayo, presented the cell phone before the commencement of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
Adebayo, while introducing the phone to the president, said that the phone is one of the 12 cell phones produced, using locally sourced components, by the Electrical/Electronic Technology Department of the Industrial Training Fund’s (ITF) Model Skills Training Centre.
The Minister said: “Twelve indigenous mobile cell phones produced by the Model Skills Training Centre of the Industrial Training Fund; an agency under Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment was launched. It gives me great pleasure Mr President, to present you with one of the phones.”
The FEC meeting was presided over by President Buhari at the conference room of the First Lady’s office.
Those who attended the meeting physically are the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN); Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; and Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
Others include Ministers of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Justice, Abubakar Malami; and Industry, Trade and investment, Niyi Adebayo.
The Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan and other Ministers participated in the weekly cabinet meeting from their various offices in Abuja.
