China-Africa Trade Expo to Host Over 100 Companies in Abuja
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo is set to hold in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 28 to 30, 2024, promising a dynamic showcase of products and a strong emphasis on Chinese engineering technology, according to the organizers.
Zhang Ji, Secretary of the China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria (CGCCN), in a statement revealed that over 100 companies are expected to participate in the expo, marking it as the second of its kind in Africa following a successful inaugural event in Nairobi earlier this year.
The event, organized by agencies affiliated with China’s Hunan Province and Nigeria’s Federal Trade Agency, will take place at the Abuja Trade & Convention Centre under the theme “China and Africa Joining Hands for a Better Future.”
The expo will feature activities spanning investment and trade, infrastructure, healthcare, and engineering machinery. The opening ceremony and the China-Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum (Nigeria) are scheduled for November 28 at 10:00 AM. Discussions will center on infrastructure connectivity, green development, innovative financing, and business transformation, with the goal of facilitating the signing and implementation of key projects.
A China-Africa Business & Healthcare Matchmaking Conference will follow later that day, running from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. This segment will highlight collaboration opportunities in healthcare, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other sectors, providing a platform for African and Chinese enterprises to engage in one-on-one discussions.
An engineering technology exhibition will also run throughout the expo, showcasing advancements in areas such as new energy, construction machinery, manufacturing, and the circular economy.
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo has grown into a critical platform for fostering economic collaboration between the two regions. Its third session, held in Hunan, China, in June 2023, attracted over 1,700 participants and secured deals worth $10.3 billion.
The inaugural African edition, hosted in Nairobi in May 2024, recorded 43 signed projects valued at $1.402 billion, underscoring the expo’s role in strengthening China-Africa ties.
