Dangote Refinery boasts of over N600bn worth of petrol in storage facilities

• Targets Expansion to African Market

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, has disclosed that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has over N600 billion worth of petrol in its storage facilities, sufficient to meet Nigeria’s local needs.

The refinery boasts an impressive capacity, producing over half a billion liters of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, to meet 100% of Nigeria’s requirements.

Dangote disclosed this during a visit from a Zambian government delegation, led by Minister of Energy Makozo Chikote, adding that the refinery’s pan-African focus, that “This refinery is not only for Nigeria; it is for Africa.”

The Zambian minister expressed his passion for potential collaboration, highlighting the benefits of promoting competition and trade within Africa.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, with its 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity, is poised to become a significant player in Africa’s energy landscape.

Edwin Devakumar, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, stated that the refinery produces high-quality products, with a focus on maximum value extraction.

According to Devakumar, the facility’s daily production includes 104 million liters of lighter products, 57 million liters of petrol, 20 million liters of jet fuel, and 27 million liters of diesel.

Now that Zambia seeks to partner with Dangote on energy solutions, the refinery’s expansion plans are expected to bolster Africa’s energy sector.

With its strategic location and massive production capacity, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is ready to play a pivotal role in promoting intra-African trade and economic growth.
