Delta announces exam, holiday schedule for 2025/2026 session for public, private schools.
The Delta state government has released the 2025/2026 academic calendar for all public and private schools.
In a statement, Patricia Iniovosa-Okakwu, functioning permanent secretary in the ministry of basic and secondary education, announced the dates.
She signed on behalf of Rose Ezewu, commissioner for secondary education, and Kingsley Ashibogwu, commissioner for primary education.
According to the calendar, all school heads and staff will resume on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Boarding students are to return on Sunday, September 7, while teaching and learning will begin the next day.
The first term pre-midterm session runs from September 8 to October 17. Post-midterm teaching will take place from October 27 to December 12.
Examinations are scheduled for December 8 to 12. STAR day and the school-based management committee meeting will also hold on December 12.
First term holidays will last from December 15 to January 2.
Second term begins on January 5, 2026. Midterm break holds from February 16 to 20, while examinations will run from March 27 to April 2.
Schools will go on holiday from April 6 to 17 before the third term begins on April 20.
The third term midterm break is scheduled for June 1 to 5. Final examinations will run from June 20 to July 24
STAR day and the school-based management committee meeting will also take place on July 24. The long vacation will run from July 27 to September 14.
The Cognitive/Placement examination will hold on May 23, while the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is fixed for June 1 to 5, 2026.
