Delta Partners UK Government to Empower 390 Beneficiaries on Digital skills
The Delta state government is set to partner with the UK Foreign Common Wealth and Development Office (FCDO) in a Basic Digital Literacy Programme for rural clusters in the state in order to boost the digital skill of the citizens of the state to become digital literate in the 21st-century digital economy.
According to the statement issued, the training is to run in ten modules with the aim to empower 390 Deltans, while the first phase is to cater for 130 participants each across the three venues.
The Delta State Government the statement added was selected as part of a few states that fulfilled requirements through provisions of suitable venues, computer facilities, internet data, recruitment and welfare of participants as their contribution to the project.
The Basic Digital Literacy Programme in Nigeria is a project that is co-funded by the UK Foreign Common Wealth and Development office (FCDO) in partnership with selected state governments.
The Basic Digital Literacy Training is scheduled to hold across the state from Monday, November 29, 2021, in Asaba, Ughelli and Warri respectively.
The Delta State, Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, said the initiative is in line with the agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on youth empowerment.
According to him, the programme is targeted at vulnerable women and girls, persons with disabilities, out of school children, non-computer literate community members and children and teenagers aged between 11 and 18 years in primary 6 and Junior/Senior Secondary Schools.
