Delta State: Aliboba Residents, Agbor Urge Commissioner for Works, Aniagwu to Fast Track Road Networks
The Residents of Aliboba Community in Ika South Local Government Area, Agbor, Delta State has raised an alarm on how flood is ravaging their areas because they don’t have any road network constructed there since the inception of Delta State and called on the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Internal Roads) Delta State, Charles Aniogu, to as matter of urgency fast track the process to making the road construction at Aliboba Community,Agbor a reality.
According to the residents, the call on the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Internal Roads) Delta State, Charles Aniogu, an indigene of Ika North has become inevitable because he was privy to the plight of the community when he was Commissioner of Information in former Governor Okowa’s administration, haven been inundated with avalanche of media reports about the area to no avail.
“We are calling on Governor Sheriff Oboreweri to break the jinx of margination of the Ika South LGA of Delta State by the past administration by sending an independent investigation to visit this Aliboba Quarter, Ika South LGA, Agbor in order to see first hand the suffering of the Deltans living in the heart of Agbor, yet has never seen, touched and tasted the dividend of democracy in Delta State since the inception of Delta State,” they said.
They appealed to the state governor to intervene by giving the mandate to the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Internal Roads) Delta State, Charles Aniogu to commence the process of construction of road networks in Aliboba Community, Ika South LGA, Agbor.
They lamented that Aliboba Community, Ika South LGA, Agbor situated from Uromi Junction to Agbor Technical School; where Delta Line has an office; where local and state government generate revenue from stores and other businesses; yet they only make do with bush paths to their houses, while some houses are caving into the gullies caused by erosion.
They also recounted how two siblings were swept away about two years ago by flood.
“We have been voting for PDP government since 1999, with all the local government chairmen, House of Assembly members, House of Representative members, Senate members, yet none could push for the construction of road networks in Aliboba Community, Agbor, yet nothing has happened.
“We are also watching now with the appointment of an Ika indigene, Charles Aniogu as Commissioner for Works (Rural and Internal Roads) Delta State, to see what will happen to this area under the leadership of the current Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oboreweri, whether he will rise to the occasion to the hue and cry of the community by constructing good road networks there,” they emphasized.
