Francis Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State.

Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State has announced the successful procurement of three commercial aircraft for the newly established Ebonyi Air. This is seen as a bold move to transform the state into a regional economic powerhouse.

Delivering his 2026 New Year address, titled ‘Ebonyi Rising: A New Year of Hope and Responsibility,’ the Governor revealed that the fleet is scheduled to arrive within the month.

This development, he said marks a pivotal shift in the state’s infrastructure strategy, using the Ebonyi State International Airport to drive commercial traffic and global investment.

Nwifuru emphasised that the acquisition was a calculated business decision rather than a vanity project.

“Reliable air transport makes it easier for investors to do business and for professionals to move in and out of the state,” the Governor stated.

He noted that the airline will serve as a critical bridge, connecting Ebonyi’s local economy to national and international markets.

Reflecting on the challenges of 2025, Nwifuru praised the resilience of Ebonyi’s farmers, traders, and civil servants.

He attributed the state’s progress to the sustained peace and unity across its local government areas, promising that the 2026 budget would be managed with strict prudence to ensure every resident feels the impact of “Ebonyi Rising.”
