Edo rejigs EdoGIS for efficiency, optimal service delivery

In its quest to ensure efficiency and optimal service delivery, the Edo State Government, through the state’s skills development agency, Edojobs, has recruited over 50 persons into the Edo State Geographical Information Service (EDOGIS).

Managing Director, EdoJobs, Ukinebo Dare, defended  the exercise, noting that it was conducted in a transparent manner, with the best selected to provide optimum service to Edo people.

Dare said the newly employed workers underwent an onboarding session in November.

“In years past, before Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration in Edo State, there was a massive job deficit in the state, with cascading effects on society.

“Youths in the state had taken to irregular migration, thuggery, and other uncharitable acts and vices in the society as the unemployment rate soared. But the governor has changed the narrative,” she said.

The recruitment process, it was gathered commenced, in February 2021, with over 2000 applicants competing to fill the various positions and the applicants were screened through different stages, including oral and written assessment and interviews.
