EFCC Arrests Former Anambra State Gov. Obiano at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday night, arrested former Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, a few hours after handing over to the new governor of the state, Professor Charles Soludo.

Obiano was reportedly on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States after handing over to his successor, Governor Charles Soludo.
It was gathered after handing over to Soludo, Obiano made his way to Lagos and proceeded to the international airport.
The immigration officers at the airport on sighting him at 8.30 p.m were said to have alerted the EFCC who immediately arrested him and took him to their office.
Obiano, who was said to have been on the commission’s watchlist for months, was arrested at about 8.30 p.m.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren has confirmed the former governor’s arrest.
“It is true. He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 8.30pm,” said Uwujaren.
Obiano is reportedly said to have being moved to EFCC office in Abuja.
