Fate of Delta State Decreased Civil Servants’ Next of Kin in Limbo for over 14 years without Payment of Entitlements

Indication has emerged that fate of the next of kin of decreased civil servants which cut across the teaching, and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Delta State have been in limbo due to the failure of the Delta State Government to pay their death benefits and other entitlement to them.
Gentechnews got the hints on this development from some of the decreased next of kin who prefer to remain anonymous, but revealed that they have fulfilled everything about their documentations with the department in charge of the processing of their benefits for over 14 years without getting any results.
“The unfortunate thing is that they keep telling us that they will soon pay after we have been told that a chunk of the percentage at payment is for them that effected the process before payment is done,” they emphasized.
Chinedu Ibim while sharing his experience from this exercise with Nigeria Info Radio in Lagos, disclosed that one of his relation died in active service in the state for over 10 years and now the next of kin is dead also, thereby compounding the process as who will collect the death benefit when both beneficiaries are dead.
” Now the dependents are frustrated as they resort to borrowing money to meet their need as well as catered for the education of those the decreased left behind.
“I want to use this medium to appeal to the Delta State Governor, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to look at the delight of the next of kin of decreased civil servants who have been waiting for over 10 years to get the entitlements of their benefactors who died in active service in Delta State,” he added.
It is now a clarion call for the Delta State Governor, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to pay the benefits of the decreased civil servants to their next of Kin to mitigate their sufferings as he is putting machinery in place to off set the pension benefits of the retired civil servants in Delta state.
