Former Ag. DG NITDA, Dr Ashiru Sani Daura passes on
The Board, Management and entire staff of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are mourning over the death of the former Acting Director General, Dr Ashiru Sani Daura.
Daura whose death occurred yesterday, April 23rd, 2021 was the head of the Agency in acting capacity, from June 2013 to April 2014.
The former DG, born on 12th December, 1956, hails from Maiadua Local Government Area of Katsina state.
A statement by NITDA confirmed that Dr Ashiru Sani Daura joined the Agency as Director, Zonal Coordination in 2005.
In the same year, he was made the Director, Technical Services which later evolved into the Infrastructure and Capacity Development (ICD) Department, a position he held till 2008.
In 2009, he was made the Director, Software Development, Technical Research and Outsourcing, which later became the Software and Outsourcing Department in 2011.
He held this portfolio until his appointment Acting Director General/CEO in June 2013.
He held this position until April, 2014, when the substantive Director General/CEO was appointed.
Daura’s educational sojourn includes having a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from King Abdul Azeez University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1984), Masters in Computer Vocational Education from the Colorado State University (1990) and a PhD Digital Signal Processing from University of Newcastle, United Kingdom (1998).
