IFMA partners UNILAG to train skill facility managers
The International Facility Management Association, (IFMA), Nigeria Chapter, has reaffirmed its collaboration with the University of Lagos, (UNILAG) towards the training of more professionals as well as strengthening the capacity building and professional development of facility managers in the country.
This position was made known during the courtesy visit of the association led by the president, Segun Adebayo, and other members of the council to the University of Lagos.
Adebayo stated that the association had taken into cognisance the need to strategically align with other institutions in the areas of capacity building, research and development, as well as mentorship and partnership.
He said the association would also want to share practical experiences with the students and organise exchange internships.
The president assured the university that the collaborative support would stimulate more conversations that could lead to maximising the economy of facility management.
Responding, Head of Department, Estate Management, University of Lagos, Prof Modupe Omirin, lauded the IFMA Nigeria Chapter for investing in the future of the country and charged the association to remain a forward thinking advocacy group.
She opined that all professionals within the construction industry to always have a facility manager to be a part of the integrated design team so they could adequately consider the proposed structure from the functionality, usability and maintainability perspective.
Omirin pointed out that facility management consultancy in property development would help influence how properties would be maintained.
