Jay Alabraba of Paga emerges new chairman Licensed Mobile Payment Operators
The Association of Licensed Mobile Payment Operators (ALMPO) has inaugurated its new Executive Committee members with Jay Alabraba emerging as the new chairman.
The online event took place on Thursday, August 6, 2020 with members of the Association in attendance.
The outgoing chairman, Chinedu Onuoha, thanked members of the Association for the support given to the outgoing Executive of the Association.
Onuoha, recounted the achievements of the outgoing EXCO under his leadership to include: repositioning the Association for effective operations, Stronger synergies with regulators on issues affecting mobile payments and financial inclusion in Nigeria, improved the Association visibility in the regulatory and industry front, and many more.
He counseled the incoming EXCO to complement and expand the scope of the numerous achievements recorded so far.
Earlier, the Outgoing Vice-Chairman of ALMPO Kelechi Uloh, applauded the new EXCO members for the willing interest to serve the Association.
Uloh also commended the outgoing EXCO members for their service and commitment to the growth of the Association.
The climax of the event was the swearing in and handing over to the new EXCO members by the outgoing Chairman in the presence of members who joined the online meeting.
The new EXCO members include Jay Alabraba of Pagatech as Chairman, Clemom Aigbogun of Teasy Mobile International as Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Oni of VTNetwork as Social and Welfare Officer; and Chidi Dire of Parkway Project as Regulatory and Compliance Officer.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of the Association, Jay Alabraba, appreciated members of the Association, including the past and current outgoing EXCOs.
He said the newly sworn in EXCO have humbly accepted the mandate that has been trusted in them and expressed their commitment to deliver on the vision that has been set by the new executives for the Association.
“I will not go into detailed specifics on what we aim to accomplish in the coming months and years. There is a time for such detailed discussions. Suffice to say that we have a lot of work ahead of us and it will require all hands on deck. The payments and financial services industry is changing at a fast pace and ALMPO must be among the forces driving that change,” Alabraba said.
