Lagos reopens two recreational parks for public use
The Lagos State Government on September 1 reopened two of its recreational parks for public use after several months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a statement issued Sunday by the Assistant Director Public Affairs, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Ajirotutu Titilayo, quoted the agency’s General Manager, Adetoun Popoola, to have made the announcement, adding that the agency had put in place relevant safety protocols for the public to visit the parks.
Popoola said strict observance of the guidelines including physical distancing, use of face masks, temperature checks and washing of hands with soap and running water were important.
She advised children below five and adults over 65 years of age to stay home to reduce their risk of infection.
Popoola revealed that all play items and games which have high touch surfaces would not be operational for now at the parks.
She announced that the two parks currently re-opened for public use were the Ndubuisi Kanu Park in Alausa and Dr Abayomi Finnih Park in Oregun Ikeja.
According to her, the occupancy limits of the parks had been restricted to 150 people for Ndubuisi Kanu Park and 100 people for Dr Abayomi Finnih park.
