The Auditor-General for Local Governments in Lagos State will begin a statewide projects inspection exercise and asset verification in all 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, (LCDAs) in the state.
A statement issued recently by the Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General for Local Governments, Adesumbo Abolarin, said the exercise would begin on Monday and end on December 4.
Abolarin said there will be specific attention on projects undertaken and completed between January and December 2019.
According to her, the exercise would also verify all movable and non-movable assets of the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.
“In order to ensure a worthwhile exercise, professionally qualified engineers in diverse fields from the Ministry of Housing, Transportation, Works and Infrastructure, New Towns Development Authority and LSDPC have been co-opted to strengthen and add value to the audit-team’s technical competence,” she said.
She added that the outcome of the LG/LCDAs inspection and verification exercise would be published and widely circulated and urged the chairmen of the councils to cooperate with the inspection teams towards the timely completion of the exercise.
