LASPPPA harps on compliance with planning regulations to reduce building collapse
The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, (LASPPPA) Funmi Osifuye, has harped on the need for improved compliance with physical planning regulations with a view to reducing and possibly halting the spate of collapsed building and distressed structures in Lagos.
Osifuye charged the heads of departments, supervising directors and district officers of the agency to work harmoniously with other agencies within the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development for sustainable development in the physical planning sector.
A statement issued by the Director Public Affairs, LASPPPA, Emdin-Umeh Abimbola, titled ‘LASPPPA tasks staff on harmony for effective service delivery’ quoted Osifuye to have given the charge recently at a review meeting with the agency’s management team, tasked them to internalise and put into action the resolutions reached at the recently concluded retreat.
The general manager while emphasizing on the need to focus on the new developmental realities of Lagos State which was key to the agency’s operation, pledged that LASPPPA would ensure a well-planned and resilient Lagos city state through the implementation of the state physical planning laws.
He also tasked the agency’s management team to own and act on the recommendations of the communiqué and bring it to bear in the performance of our everyday activities.
Osifuye revealed that LASPPPA now had an expanded feedback mechanism and grievance redress channel that could be explored by members of the public in registering their dissatisfaction with process of obtaining a planning permit or a breach of physical planning laws.
According to the LASPPPA boss, the expanded feedback mechanism and grievance redress channel will assist them in effectively monitoring operations at their district town planning offices.
