MRTB pays advocacy visit to Amuwo Odofin LG Council boss, harps on the need for community based rehabilitation centres

The Registrar/CEO, Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Reg) Board of Nigeria (MRTB) Dr. Akanle Olufunke has harped on the need for the establishment of Medical Rehabilitation Centres at the grassroots level in Nigeria.

Dr Olufunke said this during an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Dr. Engr Valentine Buraimoh.

She commended the Chairman for his humanity driven strides in the Medical services to the people of the community, one of which is the ongoing construction of the Multi-Million Naira two storey building Ultra Modern Primary Health Centre in the Local Government.

The Registrar/CEO, MRTB, however buttressed the need to complement these feats with bringing access to Medical Rehabilitation Services to the people at the grassroots, as many are faced with various challenges, which includes accessibility to facilities rendering Rehabilitation services, High cost implications and irregular follow ups which further disrupts their economic viabilities.

She therefore, while pledging the Board’s willingness to give necessary supports, implored the Council Boss to kindly consider the inclusion of Medical Rehabilitation services as one of the various medical services that residents of Amuwo Odofin already enjoys.

Appreciating the visit, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Engr Valentine Buraimoh, who was excited to receive the Registrar and her team said access to health by the people of Amuwo Odofin had always been topmost of his administration’s agenda.

He noted that he is further encouraged by the Registrar’s visit and her quest to ensuring that Medical Rehabilitation Services also becomes accessible to residents of Amuwo Odofin council.

He therefore assured the Registrar and her team of his administration’s readiness to give the necessary support for the actualization of the access to Medical Rehabilitation Services by residents of the Local Government Area.

The highpoint of the visit was a tour round the Ultra-modern Primary Health Centre still under construction.
