NCC Boss, Maida Joins International Institute of Communications Board

Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Aminu Maida, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Communications (IIC).

The International Institute of Communications is a global organization focused on advancing the telecommunications and media industries.

Dr. Maida has played a significant role in transforming Nigeria’s telecom sector and under his leadership, the industry has experienced enhanced connectivity, innovative solutions, and a more competitive and inclusive environment.

In his new role on the IIC board, Dr. Maida will share his expertise internationally, contributing to policies that promote the growth of telecom and media sectors worldwide.

Dr. Maida career includes working with leading organizations such as British Telecom, Cisco Systems, and EE Ltd. He was also part of the engineering team at UbiquiSys Ltd., a small-cell technology firm that was later acquired by Cisco Systems.

Before his role as the EVC at the NCC, Dr. Maida served as the Executive Director of Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC (NIBSS), where he played a crucial role in modernizing Nigeria’s digital payments system, which became a vital part of the nation’s financial infrastructure.

Dr. Maida’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge Judge Business School.

With his extensive experience and track record of driving innovation, Dr. Maida’s appointment to the IIC board is expected to boost global collaboration and development in the telecommunications and media industries.
