NOTAP DG, Amadiobi Meets Staff, Pledges Open Door Policy

The Director General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, who recently assumed office as the new NOTAP boss, has pledged to run an open-door policy.

A statement by NOTAP’s Head, Public Relations and Protocol, Raymond Onyenezi Ogbu, said Amadiobi made the pledge during her first general meeting with the staff of the Office.

Amadiobi  described her appointment as an act of God, adding that it was also an opportunity for her to contribute her quota to nation building, as well as ensure the actualisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.

She appreciated the staff’s warm reception and cooperation since she assumed office, adding that she had been adequately briefed by the directors and heads of departments on the activities and challenges of the Office, and promised to do her best to actualise its mandate.

The DG stated that as a mother, every staff member of NOTAP is her child, and she would discharge that motherly role by offering a level playing ground for every staff member to contribute positively to the development of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).

She pledged to work with all the staff on individual, as well as departmental level, to bring out the best in them for the benefit of the nation.

The new NOTAP boss, who was a former Permanent Secretary, Imo State Ministry of Information and Strategy, also promised that within the four years of her stewardship in NOTAP, she would embark on some restructuring to uplift the Office to a world class institution that would be a pride to the entire staff and Nigerians at large.

She challenged the directors to ensure that every approved project and programme of the Office is fully executed, advising that departments should inculcate the spirit of team work to ensure that new programmes and projects were developed.

She urged all departmental heads to give periodic reports of the activities of their departments, and achievements in concrete terms, as well as their challenges, so that the Office could move forward.

Earlier in her speech, the former acting Director General, and Director, Technology Innovation and Commercialisation, Dr. Idoreyin Imiyoho, appreciated the staff for the cooperation given to her during the period she acted.

She called for maximum support to whoever is in place of authority, and stressed the need to engage in team work to ensure a speedy actualisation of the mandate of the Office. She added that no organisation can achieve its set objectives without the dedication and cooperation of the staff.

Similarly, the leadership of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), NOTAP branch, represented by its Chairman, Okoro Champion, expressed the union’s readiness to work with the new DG.

He pledged the unflinching support and loyalty of the union’s leadership and its members to the new NOTAP leadership. He urged the DG to ensure a level playing ground for all the staff members to express themselves and contribute positively not only to the growth of the Office, but also to the development of the country.

The meeting was attended by over 90 percent of the staff members, and they were all enthusiastic about a new era, where every staff member will be given a sense of belonging.
