Reps mull review of Survey Coordination Act

Chairman of the committee, Abubakar Bichi, mooted a call for review during the 2021 Budget defence of agencies under the Ministry of Works and Housing, stressing that the Act was already out of touch with present realities.

Bichi charged the Surveyor General of the Federation, Samuel Taiwo to provide documents for study and proper legislation.
The committee opined that OSGoF was capable of generating a huge amount of money by mainstreaming surveying and mapping activities in the country.
They canvassed for the posting of surveyors to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies,(MDAs) of the Government and shoving off of all surveying and mapping components from them to OSGoF for revenue generation and proper management.
Earlier, Taiwo explained the importance of large-scale maps and how the body could increase its internally generated revenue, planning and economic development.
