SGL Farms CEO sends SOS to Nigeria Custom Service boss
Chief Executive Officer of Skapomah Global Limited (SGL Farms), Ogun state Mr. Adegoke Oluwaseun has sent a Save our Soul (SOS) call to the Controller General of the Nigeria Custom Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (RTD) over the unpatriotic activities of some officers of the Nigeria Custom service.
The call was made during a press conference organized by the media team of SGL Farms on Wednesday held at the press center Lagos state High court, Ikeja.
Adegoke bemoaned that a farm with a staff strength of over a thousand employees is about to go into extinction as a result of the unpatriotic activities of some officers of the Nigeria Custom service.
He said, “Our problem with the customs service started January, 2021 when we wanted to relocate our rice paddy due to failed irrigation facility at our farm in Anigbado, Yewa North, LGA, Ogun State.
“We brought in the rice seeds in November last year to the farm from Kebbi State to Lagos State hitch free but when study came out that the rice paddy would not yield very well on the farm, our farm extension officers advised us to plant the seed at a suitable location.
“When we were making an effort to move the rice seed to a better location some men of the Nigeria Customs swooped onto our farm and stopped the entire operation processes and their actions have stopped us from two planting seasons this year because NCS alleged that the paddy were not Nigeria grown. We have provided all necessary paperwork and receipts from various seed companies who supplied us this paddy but everything has been fruitless. We have had to be hoping and remain optimistic for over 8 months but nothing seems forthcoming as all the official communication channels explored have not yielded any results.”
Adegoke however stated that his company’s investors and financial partners many of whom are retirees and people who took loans are already frustrated and they have now resolved to involve the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with the impression that SGL may have diverted funds meant for agriculture into private businesses
