The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Monday in Abuja assured aviation workers of implementation of Conditions of Service of the agencies under the ministry’s supervision.
In a statement by James Odaudu, Special Assistant to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika further assured of payment of the minimum wage as agreed with the labour unions.
The minister highlighted that the lofty achievements recorded in the nation’s aviation sector will not have been possible without the commitment and personal sacrifices of employees in the different segments of the industry.
Sirika particularly attributed the near total achievement of the aviation roadmap to the understanding and cooperation of the workers.
He expressed confidence that the remaining parts would be achieved within the short period before the handover to the incoming administration.
Sirika reiterated the commitment of the Buhari administration to the continued improvement of the welfare of aviation workers through regular trainings, enhanced pay packages, provision of working tools and conducive work environments.
The minister congratulated workers in Nigeria as they joined their colleagues in the rest of the world to celebrate Workers Day and also congratulated workers in the Aviation Sector for their daily contributions to the running and development of the industry.
Sirika, however, expressed his worry over the frequency of workers strikes in the industry which disrupted operations at the nation’s airports, sending wrong signals to the outside world about the safety of Nigeria’s airspace.
