Sirika solicits private sector support for aviation infrastructure

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has harped on the need for Nigeria to attract private investors that will support the funding of aviation infrastructure in the sub-region.

Sirika made the call at a high-level ministerial meeting on air transport in West Africa while speaking virtually on Thursday, adding that the support was imperative for air connectivity.

“I wish to reiterate that for all our efforts to achieve its desired objectives, we must address the issue of financing and modernisation of our aviation infrastructure in line with the framework for aviation infrastructure development in Africa.

“We must attract private investors to support the funding of our infrastructure projects by building a very transparent stable and predictable investment climate as well as include aviation in our national development plan,” the minister said.

He described air connectivity as an asset designed to improve the global competitiveness of cities, states and regions, stressing that the benefit of the initiative would improve trade, tourism and economic development of the sub-region.
