Umahi urges South East to Reciprocate Tinubu’s Gesture in 2027 General election

  • Expresses gratitude to Okposi Okwu Autonomous Community for honouring him

 


Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON being honoured by Okposi Okwu Autonomous Community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

 

The Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency, Sen. Engr.  Nweze David Umahi CON has commended the people of Okposi Okwu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State for their commitments to the values that foster social integration and economic development in human societies.

A statement signed by Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Works, noted that the Honourable Minister made this commendation during the massively attended event of the grand civic reception organized on Saturday 19th April 2025 by the community to honour him for his contributions to the social harmony, economic empowerment, and infrastructural development of Okposi Okwu community.

The Honourable Minister thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for breaking the jinx of marginalization in South East through equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy among the 6 Geo-Political Zones of the nation, one of which is the appointment of a South Easterner as the Honourable Minister of Works of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which is the first ever in the history of Nigeria’s Independence.

He recounted with appreciation the numerous road infrastructural interventions of Mr. President in the South East and urged the people to mobilize massively to reciprocate the gesture in the 2027 General election.

The Honourable Minister, who was honoured with the esteemed presence of the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu, Ogun States, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, GGCEHF, His Excellency, Dr. Barr. Peter Mbah, and His Excellency, Prince Dr. Adedapo Abiodun, CON: the former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim GCON, former Governors of Ebonyi and Ogun States, His Excellency, Chief Martin Elechi CON, and His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Osoba; National Vice Chairman of APC, South East. Chief Emma Enukwu, representatives of the Governors of Anambra, Abia and Imo States, Senators from the State, Hon Minister of State for Works, Rt Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo Esq, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi and a host of other stakeholders, including Deputy Governors, National Assembly members, former Senators, and former Honourable Ministers., said he was humbled by the show of gratitude by the people Okposi Okwu Autonomous Community and the solidarity and kind words of friends  and well wishers who came from far and near to be part of the event.

Speaking in turns during the event, the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu, and Ogun States described the Honourable Minister as a great national asset who has shown proven capacities in the discharge of his professional and public duties.

They assured Nigerians that the decision of Mr. President to appoint a round peg to head the Federal Ministry of Works is borne out of his desire to holistically and logically address the road infrastructure challenges of the road infrastructure in Nigeria.

In their separate welcome remarks, the Chairman of the occasion described the award as a recognition of hard work and excellence in public service, noting that the journey of leadership of Sen. Umahi has been blessed with resourcefulness and resounding testimonies of great stewardship.
