Unsung author of Nigeria Pledge, Prof Felicia Adedoyin dies at 83
Nigerians have been reacting over the death of the unsung author of Nigeria’s National Pledge, Prof. Felicia Adebola Adedoyin, who passed on at the age of 83 in the town of Saki, Oyo state, Southwest Nigeria.
Some Nigerians have queried why such a personality who wrote the Nigeria’s National Pledge in 1976 that has kept the country together will not be honoured and given front page of the news of her life and death whereas politicians are more honoured with little or no contributions to their communities and nation.
Most people on social media handle mostly twitter vent their spleens that Prof. Felicia Adebola Adedoyin’s death didn’t make headlines and was void of national honor and recognition.
They lamented that this is one of the reasons many will not lay down their lives for this country, because people are not always appreciated when they put in their best for the country when they are alive and they are also denied that honour when they are no more.
“How else could this country could have honoured this unsung author of Nigeria’s National Pledge, Prof. Felicia Adebola Adedoyin, who passed on May 1 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 83 than for the print, electronics and air waves to celebrate this iconic writer,” a social commentator said.
