Works Minister, Sen Umahi Receives Trophies of Victory from Federal Ministry of Works’ Sports Club
- Describes sports club win streak, other wins of national athletes as a good omen for the future of Nigeria under President Tinubu

The Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency,Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON has been presented with Trophies and Medals of Honour won by the Federal Ministry of Works’ Sports Club at the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA), according to a statement issued by Hon. Barr.Orji Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Works.
Receiving the trophies at the Federal Ministry of Works Headquarters, Mabushi-Abuja, dated 18th September 2025, the Honourable Minister commended the sense of purpose, passion and resilience of the ministry’s team which he said was motivated by their new mindset and faith in the new order of the Renewed Hope administration of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
He thanked them for the historic outing, which gave them formidable wins in different tournaments as follows: First Runner Up Medals, won – 14 Gold Medals, 18 Silver Medals and 22 Bronze Medals and made 2nd overall on the Medal Table. Also, in Monthly Walking / Jogging Exercise, they won:
– 1st position, highest in attendance in the months of May and July 2025
– 1st position in attendance in the months of May and June 2025
– 2nd position in attendance in the month of July 2025
– . 2nd position in the best behaved team category in the month of May 2025
Presenting the trophies won by the ministry’s team, the assistant team manager, Omotosho Temitayo (who stood in for the team manager), said they were motivated to achieve the feat by the support of the Honourable Minister of Works and the ideals of hard work and team work he introduced when he took over the mantle of office as the Honourable Minister of Works- 1st civil engineer to be so appointed.
She expressed the commitment of the sports club to the core values of the Federal Ministry of Works.
Recall that there has been greater momentum in the victorious outings of Nigerian athletes in international competitions since the coming on board of President Tinubu’s administration. The Super Falcons won Nigeria’s 10th title of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Tournament 2025 in Morocco. The Nigeria Women’s National Basketball Team, D’ Tigress, made a historic fifth consecutive victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship 2025 in Angola. There is no doubt that these wins are a good omen for the future of our great country under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, a man with extraordinary visionary power and midas touch in leadership.
