Works Minister, Umahi inspects rehabilitation work at collapsed New Artisan Bridge at Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu State.

The Hon. Minister of Works, His Excellency, Sen. Engr Nweze David Umahi CON and the Hon. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Adebayo Olawale Edun two- day joint inspection visit to the projects in South West on the 30th day of January,2024, ended eventfully as they noted  the progress of work  at a section of  the 3rd Mainland bridge  being  rehabilitated  by CCECC  Ltd, the intervention  needs of the under- bridge  of the 3rd Mainland bridge, the Carter bridge and the Eko bridge  as well as the progress  of  work at a section of  Lagos- Ibadan Expressway  at the axis of Ibadan.

According to a statement issued by Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser (Media) to the Hon. Minister of Works, he flew to Enugu on the 1st day of February 2024 after the two- day joint inspection visits to the aforementioned projects in South West, and he immediately moved to inspect the rehabilitation work going on at the collapsed New Artisan bridge near NNPC mega filling station, Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu State.

The Hon. minister directed contractors handling the project to step up their pace of work to ensure that the project is delivered on a record time.

He also visited the palliative work going on at a section of Enugu- Abakaliki Expressway (Idodo) where the federal government is carrying out repairs of the failed section of the road.

That section has just been fully repaired, and the road users were in a cheerful mood when the Hon. Minister stopped over to see the quality of work done.

The Hon. Minister thereafter departed to Abakaliki from where he would go and exercise his voting right during the Ebonyi South Senatorial bye-election, holding on Saturday,3rd February 2024.

It would be recalled that Sen. Engr Nweze David Umahi CON was elected  as a Senator  representing  Ebonyi South Senatorial District on the 25th day of February 2023.

He was further elected as Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Senate, a position he held vibrantly until he was graciously nominated and appointed as the Hon. Minister of Works Federal Republic of Nigeria by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

He resigned as a Senator and Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Senate upon his swearing-in as Hon. Minister of Works on the 21st day of August,2023, hence the scheduled Senatorial bye- election for Ebonyi South Senatorial District by Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON has thrown his weight behind the candidacy of Prof Okorie Anthony Ani of All Progressives Congress, (APC, and by the special grace of God, the election of Saturday, 3rd February, 2024 will end in praise.
