Editor Gentechnews, Anthony Nwakaegho Emerges 2nd Prize Winner of MAN 2024 Online Award

  • Commends MAN, urges media for more commitment to real sector development

 The Founder and Editor of Gentechnews, Mr Anthony Nwakaegho has emerged as the second prize winner of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Reporter of the year 2024 Online Award during the 2025 edition of the MAN Media Personality Of The Year Award/Presidential Media Luncheon in Lagos.

Recall that Gentechnews also won the second prize winner of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Reporter of the year 2023 Online Award.

Nwakaegho in his remarks commended the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for its collaboration with the media in its advocacy role which has contributed to some of the successes the association has achieved in the real sector of the economy in Nigeria over the years.

His remark is coming on the heels of the address and commendation made by the President of MAN, Otunba Francis Meshioye in his address during the 2025 edition of the MAN Media Personality Of The Year Award/Presidential Media Luncheon in Lagos, where he noted the good work of the fourth estate of the realm in putting the government on its toes on the implementation of the right policies that are favorable to the survival of the real sector of the economy.

The Editor of Gentechnews stated that the institution and the sustenance of the annual award specially to appreciate the dedicated efforts of the mass media in promoting the activities of the real sector is a boost for the journalists to work harder in their reportage of the programme and activities of the real sector.

He affirmed that the award for hard work is more work, noting that the MAN’s second prize winner of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Reporter which he won consecutively for the year 2023 and 2024 is testimonial to this assertion.

According to him, the agenda setting, gatekeeping as well as the role of the watchdog of the society among others cannot be overemphasized and urged his colleagues in the print, electronics and the Internet to continue to work harder in the face of the daunting challenges they encounter in the line of duties to sustain their roles as the fourth estate of the realm in the quest for the national development.

Earlier in his speech, the president of MAN said “In over five decades of our existence as a business membership organization, we can attest to the important role you play in magnifying our research-based advocacy, which has contributed to some of the successes we have achieved. We thank you for your unwavering support as you carry on with this partnership in the new year.”

Meshioye congratulated every one for contesting very keenly in the competition to determine who emerges as the Association’s Media personality of the year.

“I also want to seize this opportunity to appreciate the independent review committee for always churning out excellent results in their assessment of the entries.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce the upward review of the cash gift for the winners of each category. We are sure to continue to improve in this regard, as we inch towards some measure of recovery in the economic situation of our country,” MAN president added.

The awardees in various categories include: Ebere Obike, FRCN 1st Position on Radio Category, Abiola Ismail, MITV 1st Position, TV Category, Yemisi Izuora, Oriental News Nigeria Online 1st Position, Online Category and Anthony Nwakaegho. Gentechnews Online 2nd Position and Yinka Kolawole Vanguard 1st Position, Newspaper category.
