AFCON 2025: Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeat Algeria, to face Morocco in semi-final

Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved into the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after recording a comfortable 2–0 victory over Algeria in their quarter-final match in Morocco.

Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead in the 47th minute, finishing from close range after meeting a well-timed cross from Ademola Lookman moments after the restart.

The Super Eagles remained on top and extended their advantage 10 minutes later, as Akor Adams struck decisively following a clever assist from Osimhen.

The result secures Nigeria a place in the last four of the competition, where they will take on tournament hosts Morocco in a highly anticipated semi-final encounter.
