APC Chairman Yilwatda Urges Hope, Unity, Prayers For Nigeria At Easter

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has extended Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria, calling on citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, hope, peace, and unity as the country marks the 2026 Easter celebration.

In his Easter message issued on Sunday, Yilwatda described the season as a cornerstone of the Christian faith, noting that it symbolizes the redemptive sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He said the period goes beyond celebration, serving as a time for reflection on faith, resilience, forgiveness, humility, and hope.

According to him, the message of Easter remains deeply relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the resurrection story and remain steadfast despite prevailing challenges.

“Easter teaches us that sacrifice is the pathway to glory, that suffering is never the end of the story, and that with faith in God, hope can rise again even in difficult times,” he said.

The APC chairman encouraged Christians to recommit to the virtues of righteousness, compassion, unity, and service to humanity, stressing the need for Nigerians to reflect these values in both public and private life.

Yilwatda also expressed concern over ongoing security challenges in parts of the country, including banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping, while commiserating with affected families and communities. He described the losses as a source of national grief and called for increased solidarity and cooperation to restore peace.

“At a time like this, we must not allow fear, division, or despair to define us as a people. Rather, we must stand together in unity and resolve,” he stated.

He acknowledged efforts by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, noting ongoing interventions and reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

The APC chairman further urged collaboration among all tiers of government, security agencies, community leaders, and citizens to ensure lasting peace and justice nationwide.

He called on Nigerians to use the Easter season to pray for the country, its leaders, and security personnel, expressing optimism that Nigeria would overcome its challenges through faith, responsible leadership, and unity.

Yilwatda concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Easter celebration, urging all Nigerians to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and committed to building a secure and prosperous nation.
