Breaking: President Buhari approves compulsory health insurance for corps members
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced the enrollment of corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) programme in line with the presidential directives.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu, Ibrahim announced the development during a media chat on Monday, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari has given directives for the enrollment of serving corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Brig, Gen Shuaibu disclosed that the scheme will now be footing the medical bills of the serving corps members.
The NYSC boss said the scheme has finalised plans with the NHIS in line with the presidential directive, adding that with over 300,000 corps members mobilised nationwide per annum, the scheme remains a solid ground to breed future leaders and “drivers of national unity and development.”
According to him, NYSC will now be footing the medical bills of the corps members by expending huge resources on their critical health needs.
