JUST IN: Ex-Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings dies at age 73

Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings has died. Rawlings was aged 73.

He died of suspected COVID-19 complications at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana on Thursday morning.

The former military ruler was in power from 1981 to 2001.

He held sway as military ruler from 1981 to 1992 before serving as elected President for two terms from 1993 to 2001.
