Lafarge Africa set to change its name to HBM Nigeria

Cement giant, Lafarge Africa Plc notified its shareholders and the investing public on Thursday it plans to change its name at its 67th annual general meeting (AGM) in Lagos April 30.

Under special business on the agenda, the board proposes to the shareholders to pass with or without amendment the name change.

“That the name of the company be changed to HBM Nigeria Plc,” the notice which Adewunmi Alode, company secretary, signed stated.

The board also proposed that clause 1 of the Memorandum of Association of the company be substituted with “The name of the company is HBM Nigeria Plc”.

Both the Memorandum and the Article of Association will reflect the change.

Lafarge Africa Plc was formerly a subsidiary of Holcim Group which sold its controlling stake to a Chinese group, Huaxin Cement Co Ltd.

Lafarge ranks among the industry leaders in Nigeria, with a market capitalization of N3.46 trillion.
