NCAA Inspects Chuba Okadigbo Airport, To Commence Flight Operations Soon
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has inspected the 3. 1km.runway of the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, preparatory to commencement of flight operations.
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru represented by his Deputy, Mrs Patricia Obila explained during of inspection tour of the airport that with completion of asphalting of the airport which delayed flights operations it is expected that flight operations would soon commence.
Nwifuru lauded the Ministry of Aviation and Transport for timely completion of the project, adding that huge funds had been spent on the project and that the State will surely reap the reward of the investment as well as become one of the best airports around the world.
According to him, all those who contributed to the completion of the airport had written their names in gold.
On her part, the Commissioner, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu disclosed that the Governor Francis Nwifuru-led administration asphalted the run way because some aircrafts were not comfortable with the runway due to non asphalting of the concrete on which it was built.
Obichukwu stated that the asphalting which commenced in October 2023 was completed on July 8, 2024.
“We commend the Governor for fulfilling his promise of rehabilitating the runway which has made the airport the best in the country. However, we regret that the engineer who supervised the asphalting of the runway died after completing the job,” she said.
